Sports journalists on Tuesday protested against the harassment of Prothom Alo’s senior reporter Rozina Islam.
Rozina was kept confined at the health ministry for more than five hours while on duty at the secretariat on Monday.
She was then taken to the Shahbag Police Station at night and produced before a Dhaka court this morning.
The court rejected the 5-day remand plea of Rozina and sent her to jail in a case filed under Official Secrets Act.
Sports journalists, who went to cover the national football team’s practice session at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in the morning, staged a sit-in protest.
Reporters, photographers and cameramen from various media houses including print, electronic and online media sat at the athletic turf for five minutes with their equipment lying in front of them.
The journalists demanded to release Rozina Islam immediately.
