Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Bayern Munich outclass Barcelona in the Champions League group stage at the Nou Camp on Tuesday.
Lewandowski’s brace came after Thomas Muller had opened the scoring to set Bayern on their way to a 3-0 triumph against Barca.
This is another painful European defeat for Barca after losing 8-2 against the same opponent in August last year.
Muller scored in the 34th-minute of the match while Lewandowski turned Bayern’s complete control into the match in the 56th and 85th minutes.
Without Messi, Barca failed to have a single shot on target over the 90 minutes.
Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman told a news conference, “You have to be realistic in life. Our young players showed we have a future and we have a lot of players to come back from injuries. It is what it is.”
Bayern are one of the favorites to win the Champions League and soon enough we ran into problems. We were a little unlucky with their first goal but in the second half they proved they are a better team than us right now, added Koeman.
