Munim gets first call-up to T20 squad against Afghanistan

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) called up two uncapped players Yasir Ali and Munim Shahriar in the 14-member T20 squad, which will play a two-match T20 International series against Afghanistan.

Considering their performance in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), their call-up was expected.

The 23 years old Shahriar, who is an opening batter made 178 runs in six matches for Fortune Barishal at a strike rate of 152.

Yasir Ali also had an impressive outing in the BPL for Khulna Tigers and scored 219 runs from 11 matches with a 139.49 strike rate.

Nurul Hasan Sohan, Akbar Ali, Shamim Patwari, Aminul Islam Biplob, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Saif Hasan are the six players who were dropped from the 16-member squad that played Bangladesh’s last T20 series against Pakistan.

Shakib Al Hasan who missed the last series due to injury and Liton Das who was dropped were recalled for this series.

The series will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur after the three-match ODI series between the two sides in Chattogram.

The first T20 is on March 3 and the series ending match is on March 5.
