Joy ruled out of New Zealand series

Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy is ruled out of the New Zealand series with an injury during fielding on the fourth day.

The team’s physio confirmed the matter through a video message after the end of day four.

Joy had a cut in his right hand in between the third and fourth fingers which required three stitches, as per the physio.

The right-handed batter, who scored a brilliant 78 off 228 balls in the first innings, will now be observed for a further 7-10 days with medication.

Notably, Bangladesh finished day four holding the driving seat as New Zealand scored 147 after losing five wickets at stumps and the Kiwis have taken 17 run lead in the first Test.
