Tigers on top after late Ebadot show

Bangladesh finished day four holding the driving seat as New Zealand scored 147 after losing five wickets at stumps and the Kiwis have taken 17 run lead in the first Test.

Pacer Ebadat Hossain bowled a brilliant spell to give Bangladesh edge as he took four wickets in his 17 overs conceding just 39 runs.

Ebadot removed Will Young and Henry Nicholls in the same over while wicket-keeper batter Tom Blundell went to the pavilion in the very next over of Ebadot.

Will Young scored 69, however, Nicholls and Blundell were dismissed before scoring any run.

Taskin Ahmed scalped the valuable wicket of Kiwi skipper Tom Latham who scored 14.

Earlier, Bangladesh managed to add 57 runs on the fourth day as they ended day three at 401 for six in reply to New Zealand’s 328.

For Bangladesh, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque and Liton Das scored fifties while Mehidy Hasan, who reached 1,000 Test runs in the match, scored 47 runs.
