Mithun dropped as BCB announces central contract list

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) finally approved the national players contract for the period of May to December 2021 after a meeting on Wednesday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

A total of 24 players found them in the list with five players making in all three formats of cricket. A total of four players, including Shamim Patwari, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed and Shoriful, got the BCB contract for the first time.

Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Liton Das, Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam were given the contract for the three formats of cricket while three players - Tamim Iqbal, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taijul found in Test and ODI formats.

Mahmudullah Riyad, Mustafizur Rahman, Saifuddin and Afif Hossain were also contracted for two formats - ODI and T20 International. Six other cricketers including Test captain Mominul Haque were only contracted for Test cricket and six others also including newcomer Shamim Patwari and Nasum Ahmed got contract for only T20 cricket.

The notable omission was Mohammad Mithun and Nayeem Hasan, who didn’t find a place for the contract in any format of cricket.

At the meeting, a five-member Election Commission was formed for conducting the BCB Board of Directors’ Election 2021. The commission will be headed by M Farhad Hussain, FCA, former President Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB).

The other four election commissioners are Omar Faruque, ndc, former Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Government, Barrister Muddasir Hossain, Legal Advisor BCB, Ekramul Hoque, Advocate Bangladesh Supreme Court, Former Deputy Attorney General for Bangladesh and Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, CEO BCB.

The board also approved the list of associations, clubs and different Organizations for the formation of the BCB General Council in line with the requirements of the BCB Constitution.
