Tamim, Mithun guide Bangladesh to post 271

Tamim Iqbal’s 50th ODI fifty and Mohammad Mithun’s explosive half-century guide Bangladesh to set a target of 272 runs for New Zealand in the second ODI at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Tuesday.

After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to filed first and they got early success as Bangladesh opener Liton Das got out early without scoring. Tamim and Soumya then managed to make a steady 81 run partnership on the second wicket. Soumya scored 32 while unlucky Tamim went to the pavilion after scoring 78 runs with 11 fours.

Mithun was the most explosive Bangladeshi batsman in the innings and he scored an unbeaten 73 off 57 balls with six fours and two sixes while Mushfiqur scored 32.

Mitchell Santner got two wickets for the home side while Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Trent Boult picked up one for each.

Earlier, host New Zealand hammered Bangladesh in the first ODI by 8 wickets in three-match series at University Oval, Dunedin on Saturday.
