Khaleda can bring any foreign doctor for her treatment: Momen

BNP leader Khaleda Zia is allowed to bring foreign doctors as she is free to receive treatment anywhere in the country, said Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen.

He made the remarks while briefing reporters at State guesthouse Padma on Monday.

Earlier, he briefed diplomats stationed in Dhaka on a number of current issues, including the upcoming World Peace Conference to be held in Dhaka in the first week of December.

The medical board formed for the treatment of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has recommended that she be taken to specialized hospitals in the UK, US, or Germany as she is suffering from liver cirrhosis.

Treatment of the condition is not possible in Bangladesh, or even in Thailand or Singapore, the doctors said during a press briefing at the BNP chairperson’s residence in Gulshan on Sunday.

Khaleda Zia, 76, has thrice suffered bleeding due to liver disease. There is a 50 percent chance of rebleeding in the first week and 70 percent chance after six weeks, putting her at risk of death, they added.
