Padma Bridge to open by June 30 next year

Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said that the Padma Multipurpose Bridge will be opened to the public from June 30 next year.

The Cabinet Secretary came up with the statement at a briefing at the secretariat after the cabinet meeting on Monday.

Khandker Anwarul Islam said, “The overall progress of the Padma bridge is 87 percent. Hopefully, it will be open for traffic around June 30 next year.”

The double-decker bridge, which is being constructed by Bangladesh Bridge Authority, will be on the top while the railway on the bottom.

Work on paving the road with asphalt is now ongoing while the railway slabs have already been installed on the main bridge.

Communications with 21 districts in the south will be easier after launching the bridge.
