Brazil reports another 1,480 deaths from COVID-19

Brazil registered 1,480 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 354,617, the country’s Health Ministry reported on Monday.

The ministry also said that another 35,785 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide count to 13,517,808.

The state of Sao Paulo, the most populous in Brazil, has been the most affected by the pandemic, with 2,648,844 cases and 83,098 deaths.

Brazil has been experiencing a new wave of cases since January, and many states in the country have reported overloading of their healthcare systems.

Latin America’s biggest country has the second-highest coronavirus death toll in the world, after the United States.
