More than 70 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed on Sunday when Russian artillery hit a military base in Okhtyrka, a city in Ukraine’s northeastern Sumy region.
The Guardian reported citing the head of the Sumy region Dmytro Zhyvytskyy.
The region’s head posted photographs of the charred shell of a four-story building and rescuers searching rubble.
He later said in a Facebook post that many Russian soldiers and some local residents also were killed during the fighting.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Parliament has tweeted a tribute to the servicemen, saying ‘Eternal glory to the heroes of Ukraine’.
