India reports over 3 lakh COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

India registered a huge rise in daily coronavirus cases as the country reported 317,532 fresh cases, which pushed the caseload to 38,218,773 on Thursday.

This is the first time in the last eight months that the country reported more than three lakh daily caseloads. 

According to the country’s health ministry, 491 deaths were reported in a span of 24 hours. The total number of death counts increased to 487,693.

A total of 223,990 more patients recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of recoveries has climbed to 35,807,029.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 1,935,180 tests were conducted in a day.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive have reached 1,596,755,879.
