Daily COVID-19 infections in France cross 100,000 barrier

Daily coronavirus infections in France have crossed the 100,000 mark as the county’s health officials reported 104,611 new cases in the last 24 hours.

This is the third consecutive days the new infection numbers have been record high.

The health officials of France are concerned about the effect of the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.

To avoid more vulnerable situation, the authority on Friday asked the adults to receive a booster dose after their initial vaccination.

The latest figures mark a dramatic rise since the beginning of the month. The numbers broke 50,000 for the first time on December 4 before rising steadily.

To date, France has recorded 122,546 deaths from the coronavirus. So far, 76.5 percent of the population is fully vaccinated.
