YouTube on Thursday said that it removed more than 30,000 videos for sharing misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccines, reports Axios.
YouTube spokesperson Elena Hernandez said, “Videos which included claims about vaccinations that contradict respective local health authorities or the World Health Organization (WHO) have been removed from their platform.”
According to Elena Hernandez, YouTube removed over 800,000 videos related to dangerous or misleading coronavirus information since February 2020.
Numerous videos spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines and the vaccination program are continuing to appear online across the world.
As a result, social media platforms like Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, and Twitter have taken various policies to reduce the spread of these messages, contents, and videos.
Meanwhile, YouTube first took policy against COVID-19 vaccine misinformation in October 2020.
