BNP Vice Chairman Ruhul Alam dies of COVID-19

BNP Vice-Chairman Major General (Retd) Ruhul Alam Chowdhury, also a former member of the advisory council of the former caretaker government, died of COVID-19 on Saturday.
He breathed his last at around 11:15 am at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
BNP Organizing Secretary Syed Imran Saleh Prince confirmed the news of his death to Dhaka Post.
He said, “Ruhul Alam tested positive for COVID-19 and he admitted to the CMH on March 10. Later, he was shifted to the ICU after his condition deteriorated on March 13. BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, and Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir mourned his death.”
Ruhul Alam will be laid to rest at the Banani military graveyard after Asar prayer, he added.
He was born in Pekua, Cox’s Bazar on August 24 in 1947. He joined the Bangladesh Army in 1972 and retired in 1998.
He was made one of the advisers to the caretaker government which was formed in 2006.
