RMCH reports highest daily deaths

The coronavirus unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) reported another 16 deaths in the last 24 hours.

This is the highest daily deaths reported in the hospital since June 8.

Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani, Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, confirmed the matter on Wednesday.

Shamim Yazdani said that eight of the deceased have died of coronavirus while eight others had COVID-19 symptoms.

Among the deceased, eight were the residents of Rajshahi, three from Chapainawabganj, two from Natore, two from Naogaon and one from Jhenaidah.

Meanwhile, at least 410 patients are receiving treatment at the coronavirus unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital against 357 beds available.

A total of 60 people got admitted to the coronavirus unit of the hospital in the last 24 hours.

The Rajshahi Medical College Hospital have so far reported 918 deaths due to coronavirus while 245 of them were reported in June alone.

Notably, the northern district, including Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Natore, Rajshahi and Rangpur, emerge as the new hotspot of coronavirus.

Most of the people infected in these areas are being infected by the ‘delta variant’ of the virus which is popularly known as the Indian variant.
