13 more deaths reported in RMCH corona unit

A total of 13 more deaths have been reported at the coronavirus unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours.

Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani, Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, confirmed the matter on Monday.

Shamim Yazdani said that six of the deceased have died of coronavirus while six others had COVID-19 symptoms. In addition, a person who recovered from the virus died in the same period.

Among the deceased, six were the residents of Chapainawabganj, two from Rajshahi, three from Natore and one from Naogaon.

Meanwhile, at least 402 are receiving treatment at the coronavirus unit of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital against 309 beds available.

A total of 62 people got admitted to the coronavirus unit of the hospital in the last 24 hours.

The Rajshahi Medical College Hospital have so far reported 889 deaths due to coronavirus while 216 of them were reported in June alone.

Notably, the northern district, including Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Natore, Rajshahi and Rangpur, emerge as the new hotspot of coronavirus.

Most of the people infected in these areas are being infected by the ‘delta variant’ of the virus which is popularly known as the Indian variant.
