COVID-19: 60 more deaths, 3,956 cases

Bangladesh reported 60 more deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 13,282.

Besides, 3,956 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the same period, which brings the tally of infections to 8,37,247.

A regular press release by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the new deaths and infections of the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

A total of 2,679 patients were declared free from the virus in the same period of 24 hours. The total number of recoveries stands at 773,752.

Meanwhile, 23,807 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours. With this, 6,242,786 samples have been tested so far in the country.

The current positivity rate is 16.62 percent, while the total positivity rate stands at 13.41 percent, added the press release.

Among the 60 deceased, 36 were men and 24 women, said the press release.

Bangladesh reported the first case of COVID-19 on March 8 last year while the first death due to the virus was reported on March 18.

According to Worldometer, a total of 3,839,931 people died of COVID-19 globally and 177,470,620 were infected so far.
