The Delta variant, popularly known as the Indian variant, has already spread all over the country, which is indicating that the situation might deteriorate further in the upcoming days.

Border districts like Satkhira, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj and Chuadanga have reported a huge spike of coronavirus infections in the last few days.

In addition, coronavirus cases are on the rise in districts like Bagerhat and Noakhali, having no borders with India.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data, positivity rates of coronavirus infections are 30 percent and above from last week in these six districts.

Meanwhile, Chapainawabganj reported 55 percent positivity rate on Friday.

All the hospitals of these districts are overwhelmed by patients having coronavirus symptoms and the hospital authorities are struggling to accommodate them.

Apart from the border district, the situation in 36 more districts of the country is also alarming as the positivity rate there is above 10 percent since last week.

Notably, the hospitals of border districts haven’t enough equipment to treat critical COVID-19 patients. As a result, they referred such patients to hospitals located in divisional cities.

Considering the current situation of the country, experts have warned of another spike in coronavirus cases as the government withdraws inter-district movement restrictions and people across the country are reluctant to adhere to the health safety guidelines.

According to the health experts, the situation might turn worse in a week or two, if strict measures are not taken.

They recommended imposing a strict restriction which has to be followed by all the people across the country as the infections started going down steadily after the government imposed movement restrictions on April 5.
