Journalist AZM Anas passes away

AZM Anas, Economic Editor at The Financial Express, passed away at the age of 45 in the capital. He breathed his last at around 8:00 am on Tuesday morning.

Siddique Islam, Special Correspondent of The Financial Express, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post.

In his 20-plus-year career as a reporter and editor, he also worked for The Independent and The New Nation.

Abu Anas was a member of the Jatiya Press Club, Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), and Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF).

He was the first Bangladeshi journalist to receive the Gold Award of the 2019 Prince Albert II of Monaco and the United Nations Correspondent Association Global Prize for coverage of climate change.

He left behind his wife, two children, relatives, and admirers to mourn his death.

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held on the National Press Club premises at 3:30 pm and the second one will be held after Asar prayers at Panthapath Jame Masjid. After that, he will be buried at the Azimpur graveyard.
