Hadisur’s body reaches Dhaka

The body of Md Hadisur Rahman, a third engineer of the Bangladeshi ship ‘Banglar Samriddhi’, who was killed on March 3 in a rocket attack at a Ukraine port, reached Dhaka on Monday.

A Turkish Airlines flight carrying the body landed at Shahjalal International Airport around 12:06 pm on Monday.

The body of Hadisur Rahman reached Turkey from Romania. The body was supposed to arrive on Sunday. However, the flights got canceled due to heavy snowfall in Istanbul, the capital of Turkey.

Hadisur’s body would be taken to his village in Barguna’s Betagi upazila’s Hosnanabad union.

Earlier, 28 surviving sailors of the ship safely reached Dhaka from Romania’s capital Bucharest on March 9.

Hadisur is one of the 29 Bangladeshis who had been stranded on the ship owned by the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC).

The ship came under a missile attack on March 2 leaving Hadisur dead. The ship has been stranded in Ukraine’s Olivia port since Russia invaded the Eastern European country.
