Bangladesh logs 7 deaths, 446 cases

With 7 fresh deaths reported across the country in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 death toll in Bangladesh stands at 29,096.
The positivity rate in the last 24 hours across the country has raised to 2.23 percent.
Besides, 446 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the same period, which brings the tally of infections to 1,948,148.
A regular press release by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the new deaths and infections of the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
A total of 3,062 patients were declared free from the virus in the same period of 24 hours. The total number of recoveries stands at 1,849,946.
Meanwhile, 19,964 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours.
The current positivity rate is 2.23 percent, while the total positivity rate stands at 14.36 percent, added the press release.
Among the 7 deceased, 5 were men and 2 were women, said the press release.
Bangladesh reported the first case of COVID-19 on March 8 last year while the first death due to the virus was reported on March 18.
According to Worldometer, a total of 6,028,735 people died of COVID-19 globally and 448,333,890 were infected so far.
