Daily deaths drop to 13, cases 2,150

With 13 fresh deaths reported across the country in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 death toll in Bangladesh stands at 28,944.

The positivity rate in the last 24 hours across the country has raised to 8.71 percent.

Besides, 2,150 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the same period, which brings the tally of infections to 1,931,304.

A regular press release by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the new deaths and infections of the last 24 hours on Saturday.

A total of 7,478 patients were declared free from the virus in the same period of 24 hours. The total number of recoveries stands at 1,745,322.

Meanwhile, 24,698 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours.

The current positivity rate is 8.71 percent, while the total positivity rate stands at 14.65 percent, added the press release.

Among the 13 deceased, 7 were men and 6 were women, said the press release.

Bangladesh reported the first case of COVID-19 on March 8 last year while the first death due to the virus was reported on March 18.

According to Worldometer, a total of 5,894,532 people died of COVID-19 globally and  422,490,789 were infected so far.
