The National Technical Advisory Committee on COVID-19 has recommended reopening all secondary and university level educational institutions from February 22 as the infections rate has decreased.

The committee made the recommendation at a meeting with Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni on Wednesday night.

NTAC Chairman Professor Mohammad Shahidullah said that the coronavirus situation has improved steadily across the country. In these circumstances, educational institutions can be reopened following health guidelines properly.

A press conference is set to be organized in the conference room of the Ministry of Education at 11:00 am on Thursday regarding the opening of the educational institutions, said a circular signed by M A Khair, Public Relations Officer of Ministry of Education.

The government announced the closure of all the schools and colleges across the country from January 21 to February 6 amid a surge in COVID-19 cases due to the dominant Omicron variant.
