Faruque Hassan, Managing Director of Giant Group, has become the new president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
Sammilito Parishad, led by Faruque Hassan, won the BGMEA election by securing 24 posts of directors out of 35.
Besides, ABM Shamsuddin-led Forum panel won 11 posts in the election while running president of BGMEA Rubana Huq got the second highest votes.
Around 86 percent of voters cast their votes in the BGMEA polls last night while Faruque secured the highest 1,204 votes.
BGMEA election board, led by Syed Farhat Anwar, announced the results on Sunday night after day-long voting.
A total of 35 directors have been elected by the voters, from where a president and seven vice-presidents will be made.
