4 brothers killed as pick-up van rams them in Cox’s Bazar

Four brothers were killed and five others were injured after a pick-up van ran over them while crossing a road at Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Nirupam Shil, Anupam Shil, Dipak Shil and Champak Shil; sons of Suruz Chandra Shil of Sagir Shah Kata village under the upazila. 

The accident took place in the Malumghat area on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Highway around 8:00 am this morning.

Safayet Hossain, officer-in-charge of Malumghat Highway Police Station in Chakaria, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post.

He said that four people were killed on the spot while 5 others were seriously injured. They were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in critical condition. The pickup van was seized and arrested its driver from the spot.

Dulahajra UP chairman Adar said they were returning home after offering prayers at a nearby temple. Their father died a week ago. They went to the temple to offer prayers in the name of their late father.
