81 new cases, 187 so far in Bangladesh

Bangladesh have reported 81 new cases of Omicron, taking the total number of the variant to 187 in Bangladesh as of Monday.
Germany-based organization Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID) revealed the information.
The latest cases were detected at the lab of Praava Health that were later submitted by the Genomic Research Lab of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) yesterday.
The first cases of the Omicron variant were first detected in Bangladesh on December 11 when two female cricketers of the national team contracted the virus after returning from Zimbabwe.
