Appeal seeks HC directives to shut educational institutions

An appeal has been filed in the High Court seeking directives to close all the educational institutions across the country for 30 days following the recent surge of coronavirus.

Supreme Court Advocate Yunus Ali Akand filed the appeal to the High Court on Wednesday.

Considering the public interest, he made the request where health secretary, education secretary and others have been made defendants.

The High Court bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice SM Moniruzzaman may hear the appeal, said Yunus Ali.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division and the High Court Division are conducting virtual hearings from Wednesday due to the rise of coronavirus infections in recent times.
