SUST students call for VC’s resignation

The students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) started demonstrations demanding the resignation of Vice-Chancellor (VC) Farid Uddin.

Hundreds of students are started gathering at the Golchattor and surrounding areas of the university since 8:00 am this morning following the incident of the police attack on agitating students on Sunday.

According to the students, the Vice-Chancellor of SUST ordered the police to open fire, charge batons and rubber bullets at the students and teachers.

The agitating students said, “We are rejecting the announcement made by the administration to leave halls. We will continue our protest until the demands are met.”

They also demanded public apology and the resignation of the VC for allegedly ordering the attack.

Our correspondent tried to contact Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Proctor Dr. Alamgir Kabir over the phone but he couldn’t be connected.

Earlier on Sunday night, the students staged a movement on campus demanding the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor after the police left the campus around 11:00 pm.
