Lockdown again if curbs are violated

The government will impose lockdown again if the 11-point restrictions imposed by the government to prevent the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant have been violated.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque made the disclosure during an event at Manikganj Sadar Hospital on Saturday.

He said, “We are not planning to impose lockdown again as it put a huge strain on a country’s economy.”

“If the 11-point restrictions are being followed properly by the general people, then we won’t go for any lockdown.”

However, health guidelines are not followed properly in many places, including Dhaka International Trade Fair. This move by the countrymen are very much alarming, added the minister.

He urged everyone to wear masks and abide by the health protocols.

According to the minister, the whole world has been witnessing a new surge in COVID-19 infections and Bangladesh is no exception.

Following this, the government strengthen the vaccination campaign across the country. The government has enough vaccine doses in hand, the minister concluded.
