No ship movement on Teknaf-Saint Martin route

All the tourist ships on the Teknaf-Saint Martin route remain halted from Thursday morning aiming to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the authority announced on Wednesday.

As a result, no local or foreign tourist will be able to visit St Martin’s Island in Cox’s Bazar.

Amin Al Parvez, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar, said that no ships have left Teknaf since Thursday morning. The Karnafully Express, the only ship operating from Cox’s Bazar, also postponed its movement.

He notified Dhaka Post that such a decision has been made to prevent the coronavirus infection.

Mohammad Shah Alam, Teknaf Manager of the Keari Sindabad ship, told Dhaka Post that our ships will not operate from Thursday. Initiatives have been made to bring back those tourists who have been stranded in the island.
