Runu Veronica gets first booster dose

Runu Veronica Costa, a senior nurse of Kurmitola General Hospital, received the first booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as the campaign for booster doses started in Bangladesh on Sunday.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the vaccination campaign at the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) in the capital’s Mohakhali this morning.
Later, Director General of Health Directorate Prof ABM Khurshid Alam, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Law Minister Anisul Huq, Fisheries Minister SM Rezaul Karim and Health Minister Zahid Maleque received the booster doses.
Earlier on Saturday, Zahid Maleque announced that the booster dose campaign is set to begin at the BCPS on Sunday at a program in Manikganj.
As per the minister, Pfizer vaccines will be used at this phase as it has been approved by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Zahid Maleque said, “The senior citizens and frontliners will be vaccinated on a priority basis.”
However, the number of booster dose recipients will increase gradually, he added.
