Plea seeks permission to sue Murad under DSA

An appeal has been submitted to sue disgraced former state minister for information and broadcasting Murad Hassan under the Digital Security Act over his offensive and derogatory comments on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his daughter Zaima Rahman during an online interview.

Advocate Omar Faruk, General Secretary of the Nationalist Lawyers Forum, Dhaka Bar Unit, filed the case at Dhaka Cyber Tribunal on Sunday.

Md Mohiuddin Helal Nahid, the host of the controversial interview, has also been named in the complaint.

According to the case statement, Murad Hassan and the host of the interview used vulgar, misogynistic, and derogatory language against Zaima Rahman and disseminated false information.

The hearing of the case might take place tomorrow.

Following his derogatory remarks on women, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked him to resign from the cabinet.

Murad later resigned from the cabinet on December 7.
