The decision on the expulsion of Murad Hassan from the Awami League will be taken in the next executive meeting of the party.
Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif came up with the statement while responding a question from journalists at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday.
Mahbubul Alam Hanif said, “If any allegations against any leader of the party are proven, he/she must be punished.”
However, we will have to wait till the Awami League’s next central working committee meeting to make a decision regarding this, he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Murad Hassan resigned from the cabinet citing ‘personal reasons’.
Murad’s letter of resignation has come after PM Sheikh Hasina on Monday evening asked him to resign from the cabinet for his derogatory remarks on women.
Murad Hassan has been in the limelight for the last couple of days over his derogatory and controversial remarks on different issues.
