Bangladesh mulls COVID-19 booster dose for elderly

Health Minister Zahid Maleque said that people aged 60 and above will be given booster shots of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The minister made the remarks at a press conference after an inter-ministerial meeting at the secretariat on Tuesday.
He said, “We know that the elderly are at high risk of coronavirus. As a result, we are considering administering booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to people aged 60 and above.”
Zahid Maleque further said that the government is also considering a ‘no vaccine, no service’ campaign in all public offices to encourage people to get vaccinated against coronavirus.
The minister urged all to refrain from public gatherings and follow the health guidelines to prevent the new COVID-19 Omicron variant.
He emphasized on quarantine people entering Bangladesh from countries all over the world.
