Former BNP MP gets death penalty for war crimes

The International Crimes Tribunal 1 on Wednesday sentenced former BNP lawmaker of Bogura-3 constituency Abdul Momin Talukder Khoka to death for his crimes against humanity committed in Bogra’s Adamdighi during the War of Liberation.

A three-member ICT-1 panel headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam delivered the verdict.

Three charges of crimes against humanity, including the murder of 19 persons and arson attacks on 19 houses after looting, were brought against him.

The tribunal on October 31 kept the judgement on CAV, curia advisory vault (a Latin legal term, meaning court awaits judgement) as both the prosecution and defence concluded their arguments in the case on that day.

On November 22, the tribunal through a short order had set today to pronounce the judgement.

Currently, Abdul Momin Talukder Khoka is the Vice President of Bogura district unit BNP and Assistant Organizing Secretary of Rajshahi divisional BNP.
