Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the government has planned to vaccinate students aged 12 and above gradually.
She made the remarks while replying to a question from Jatiya Party MP Dr. Rustam Ali Farazi in Parliament on Wednesday.
Sheikh Hasina said, “As per the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO), the government is taking measures to bring 50 percent of people under vaccination coverage by December 2021.”
For this, the government is planning to provide vaccine jabs for students aged 12 or above. The government has a plan to vaccinate 80 percent of the country’s total population, she added.
The PM further said that some six crore vaccine jabs, two crore every month, will come from Sinopharma from October to December.
The Prime Minister hoped that it would be possible to overcome the pandemic with cooperation from all governments.
The situation will become normal again if everybody follows health guidelines strictly apart from getting vaccinated, she concluded.
