Universities can reopen after September 27

All the universities across the country can reopen after September 27 by confirming all the students would complete the registration for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Such a decision was taken at a virtual meeting of vice-chancellors of the universities, Education Minister Dipu Moni and the University Grants Commission (UGC) on Tuesday.

M A Khair, Information and Public Relations Officer of Education Ministry, said, “If all the students of any university completed registration for the COVID-19 vaccine, they can reopen any time.”

Students who do not have the NID card will also be able to register using the birth registration card.

The decision was made as the COVID-19 infection rate has come down significantly.

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni presided over the online meeting.

Earlier, schools and colleges across the country reopened on September 12 after nearly 18 months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The medical colleges also reopened on September 13.
