6 killed in Habiganj road crash

Six people were killed after a covered-van hit a CNG-run autorickshaw in Shayestaganj upazila of Habiganj.

The incident took place in the Olipur area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at around 8:00 am on Monday morning.

The deceased were not yet identified immediately. However, four men and two women passengers of the autorickshaw were reported dead.

Ajay Chandra Deb, officer-in-charge of Shayestaganj Police Station, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post.

He said that a Sylhet-bound covered-van hit the CNG-run autorickshaw on Dhaka-Sylhet highway this morning. Six people died on the spot.

Besides, a critically injured person was sent to the Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital.

Shayestaganj Highway Police and fire service officials recovered the bodies from the spot, he added.
