Sylhet, a historically enriched city, is located in the highlands of the north of Bangladesh. Standing on the bank on the Surma River, Sylhet is blessed with a subtropical climate, featuring humid weather, hot summer and cool winter.

Ratargul Swamp Forest

Ratargul Swamp Forest, a fresh water marshland forest, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sylhet. It is located close to river Goain, in Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet. Ratargul forest connects with Chengir lake and Gowain river.

During the rainy season, the evergreen forest gets overflooded while there is fewer water in times of other seasons. The forest goes under up to 20-30 feet of water in times of the rainy season. However, the water level is about 10 feet deep in the rest of the year. The standing Koroch trees over the water add extra beauty to the forest.

Jaflong

Jaflong is situated at the border between Bangladesh and Meghalaya, India. Lying on the bank of ‘Piyain’ river, popular as the Dauki River originating from India, Jaflong falls under the East Jaflong Union in Gowainghat upazila of Sylhet. Every year many tourists from different parts of the country visit Jaflong.

Bisnakandi

Bisnakandi is a village in Rustompur union under Gowainghat upazila Sylhet. This tourist spot is especially for boat journey lovers. For those who are interested in boat journey, Bisnakandi is the ideal place for them as it would cherish the soul of the crazy lover of boat journeys.

Bisnakandi is used to assemble rocks from the riverbed where many layers of the Khasi Mountains from both sides meet at one point.

As the water flows from high mountains, the river stream carries huge boulders which naturally settle in Bisnakandi. The rolling stones found on the crystal clear water will leave an unforgettable memory in your mind.

Lalakhal

If you are interested to spend some time floating on a wide natural canal where the water looks emerald green, Lalakhal would be your best destination. The Lalakhal canal is situated near Tamabil road in Sylhet. It is about 35 km away from Sylhet city.

This canal is connected to the astonishing Sharee River, originating in Meghalaya, a state of India. Being relatively shallow, the Sharee River is a great source of sandy resources on Sylhet.
