Veteran actor Wasim passes away

Renowned actor Mesbahuddin Ahmed Wasim, popularly known as Wasim, passed away at around 12:30 am in the capital’s Shahabuddin Medical College Hospital on Sunday. 

He was suffering from various old-age ailments including kidney disease. 

Actor Zayed Khan, the General Secretary of Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti, confirmed the news.

“Wasim had been admitted to the Ever Care Hospital of the capital first. From there, he returned home as his physical condition improves. But he was admitted to the Shahabuddin Medical College Hospital on Saturday and died there while undergoing treatment,” said Zayed Khan. 

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Gulshan after the Johr prayers on Sunday. He will be laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard following his second namaz-e-janaza.

In 1972, Wasim made his debut as an assistant director in the movie ‘Chhanda Hariye Gelo’.

He started his journey as a hero with the movie ‘Raater Por Din’.

Other notable movies starred by Wasim include, ‘Daku Mansur’, ‘Jighangsa’, ‘Ke Asal Ke Nakal’, ‘Bahadur’, ‘Manasi’, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Naram Garam’, ‘Iman’, ‘Raj Dulari’, ‘Lutera’, ‘Lal Mem Saheb’, ‘Beduin’, ‘Jiban Sathi’, ‘Rajanandini’, ‘Rajmahal’, ‘Bini Sutar Mala’.
