Actor Farooque in ICU with critical condition

Legendary actor and Member of Parliament Akbar Hossain Pathan, popularly known as Farooque, has recently been taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore with critical health condition.

Rowshan Hossain Pathan Shorot, son of the actor, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post.

His physical condition deteriorated again on Monday as he was suffering from various health complications.

Earlier, he had been taken to the ICU last month after he went to Singapore for regular treatment.

The legendary actor has been admitted to the hospital several times before.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, he has to face various health complications. The veteran actor also tested positive for the COVID-19 in November last year.

Farooque was born in Dhaka in 1948. He made his debut in Bangla cinema with ‘Jalchabi’ directed by H Akbar in 1971.

He received many awards including the National Film Award in 1975 for the film ‘Lathial’ for his outstanding contribution to Bangladeshi films.
