Rabindra Sangeet singer Mita Haque passes away

Ekushey Padak-winning Rabindra Sangeet singer Mita Haque has passed away at the age of 59 at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital at around 6:30 am on Sunday morning.
Barrister Ajmayeen, a friend of her daughter Farheen Khan Jayita, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post.
He said, “Mita Haque returned to her home after recovering from COVID-19 on April 9. But she had a sudden heart attack on April 10 morning and shifted to the hospital again. She died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment there.”
Earlier, Mita Haque tested positive for the COVID-19 on March 31. In addition, she was suffering from kidney-related diseases.
Despite she tested negative for coronavirus, she was rushed to the hospital as her physical condition deteriorated on Saturday. Since then, she was kept on ventilator support.
Mita Haque was born in Dhaka in 1962. She was the head of the Rabindra Sangeet Department at Chhayanaut Sangeet Bidyayatan in Dhaka.
The singer has 24 solo albums in total, of which 14 albums have been released from India and 10 in Bangladesh.
In 2020, she was awarded Ekushey Padak for her contributions to music.
