Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Sunday became the first batsman to score 3,000 runs in T20 internationals. Kohli’s unbeaten 73 off just 49 helped India to level the five-match series at 1-1 in the second T20I against England in Ahmedabad. 

Kohli hit five boundaries and three sixes in his knock and the last six which confirmed the win of team India took him to the landmark of 3,000 T20I runs.

He was dismissed for a duck in the first T20I of the series. However, his return to run-scoring form is crucial for the hosts.

The Indian captain is right on top of the run-scoring in T20I, with 3,001 runs from 87 matches at an average of 50.86 while New Zealand opener Martin Guptill is in the second position of the list who scored 2,839 runs from 99 games at an average of 32.36. Rohit Sharma is at number 3 with 2,773 runs in T20I.

Despite losing the first T20I, India produced a superb 7 wicket victory on Sunday’s second T20I in Ahmedabad.

India will take on England in the third T20I on March 16 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
