Barishal defend 143 to reach BPL final

Fortune Barishal defend 143 to beat Comilla Victorians by 10 runs with a disciplined bowling show to reach the final of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Comilla now will take on Chattogram Challengers in the second Qualifier on Wednesday to give another shot to the final.

As Barishal were restricted to 143-8 after being put into bat first, Comilla looked pumped up to win the game but Barishal bowlers showed a never-say-die attitude to finally hold the opponents back for 133-7.

Shakib Al Hasan-led Barishal bowlers kept the belief in their ability despite Comilla openers Liton Das and Mahmudul Hasan Joy added 62-run for the opening stand. But they couldn’t make the runs at a faster pace as was required.

Mehedi Hasan Rana who delivered a crucial penultimate over helped the side to win the match.
