A stylish century from Liton Das was not good enough to avoid the innings defeat of Bangladesh as they folded for 278 in the second innings and suffered an innings and 117 runs defeat in the second Test over New Zealand on Tuesday.

Liton smashed 102 off 114 deliveries by heating 14 fours and a six, while no Bangladesh batters can settle down in the pitch.

Bangladesh lost wickets in regular intervals despite some good partnership in the middle.

Skipper Mominul Haque scored the second-highest 37 while Nurul Hasan, who seemed solid in the partnership with Liton, scored 36 runs.

For New Zealand, Kyle Jamieson took four while Neil Wagner took three wickets.

Ross Taylor, playing his final test, sealed the victory for New Zealand by removing the last Bangladesh batsman Ebadot Hossain.

Earlier, Bangladesh made to follow on after being bundled out for 126 in reply to New Zealand’s first innings total of 521-6 declared.

The Kiwis suffered a shock eight-wicket defeat in the first Test in Mount Maunganui.

Bangladesh made history by claiming the first-ever win in Tests for Tigers against Kiwis and their first win in any format against the New Zealand at their home.
