Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das put on some resistance after the collapse of the Tigers’ top order and lost seven wickets in the first session of day five of the second Test at She-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Pakistan had put the hosts to follow-on as they were folded for 87 in the first innings in reply to Pakistan’s 300-4 (d).

An innings defeat for Bangladesh loomed large as they need 115 runs more to force Pakistan bat for the second time in the game.

Liton Das was batting on 27 with Mushfiqur Rahim on 16 after putting on 47-run for the fifth wicket and much relied on the duo as Bangladesh need to survive two more sessions.

Earlier, off-spinner Sajid Khan finished with 8-42, the fourth-best individual bowling by a Pakistan bowler to wrap up Bangladesh’s first innings for 87.

Pakistan bowlers were relentless in Bangladesh’s second innings too. Hasan Ali broke through in the fourth over to get rid of debutant Mahmudul Hasan for 6 after he was out for a duck in the first innings. Afridi got into act in the next over, giving Shadman Islam another single-digit figure.

The duo then in combined ripped through middle order before resistance came from Liton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim.

Pakistan won the first Test by eight wickets before sweeping the three-match T20 International series.
