The team management confirmed that they will not take a replacement for Shakib for the remainder of the competition.

The news of his being sidelined from the event came at a moment when Bangladesh were going through a tough phase, losing three matches in a row in the Super 12 stage.
Shakib however played the team’s last match against West Indies through injury. He went wicket-less in the match and made just 9 after opening the innings.
“Shakib sustained a left lower hamstring strain while fielding during the match against the West Indies. In a clinical examination it was diagnosed as an injury of Grade 1 intensity,” Bangladesh Team Doctor Debashis Chowdhury said.
“He is ruled out from participation in the last two matches of the tournament and until further review.”
Shakib’s performance was key to take Bangladesh to Super 12 after their shocking defeat to Scotland in the tournament opener. He performed in both batting and bowling to help Bangladesh defeat Oman and Papua New Guinea in the next two matches. In the process, he became the highest wicket-taker in T20 International cricket and also went past Shahid Afridi as the leading wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history.
He was unable to carry this performance to the Super 12s, which was one of the reasons for Bangladesh’s below-par performance at this phase.
Shakib overall took 11 wickets and made 146 runs in six matches in this T20 World Cup with the best of 4-9 in bowling and 46 in batting against Papua New Guinea. But in Super 12, he scored just 23 runs and took two wickets in three matches.
Bangladesh who are all but out of the semifinal race following their three straight defeats will play two more matches against South Africa on November 2 and Australia on November 4.
