Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said that there will be two days of weekly holidays in primary and secondary schools across the country from 2023.

She made the remarks at a textbook distribution program for class six for piloting under the new curriculum at the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) on Saturday.

There is a two-day weekend at the university level. We informed Prime Minister to extend the weekly holiday to two days for secondary, higher secondary and higher education, she said.

Noting that a proposal was placed for keeping the one-day holiday unchanged for primary education, Dipu Moni said, adding that the Prime Minister has instructed for extending the holidays for the primary education as well.

“I hope all educational institutions across the country will enjoy the two-day holiday from 2023,” she added.

NCTB Chairman Professor Md Farhadul Islam was present at the function, among others.

According to the NCTB officials, the piloting program of the new national curriculum will begin at 62 educational institutions from February 22 while the schools under the program will enjoy the two-day holiday from that day.
