The government have decided to administer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine as booster shots instead of the Pfizer vaccine.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.

All involved with the government’s vaccination drive have been asked to comply with the directive.

Pfizer vaccines, however, will be preserved for administrating both first and second doses for school and college students aged 12-17. Notably, most of the students have already received one dose of it.

Such a decision has been made considering the number of vaccines in hand and to ensure vaccines for the students.

The DGHS started administrating booster doses on December 28 last year.
